A good cup of chai can hit the spot like nothing else. It's calming, comforting, and delicious in all the right places. The spiced scents from a good cup of chai can't be compared. Basically no one can dispute this.
But for a lot of those who have transitioned into a plant-based diet, it has been difficult to recreate the same experience as a vegan. How else do we read our papers, scroll through our newsfeeds, or munch on evening bajjis?
The wild experiments and longing for a good cup of vegan chai ends here. It's time to bring chai back into your daily routine with One Good mylk. A creamy blend of cashews, oats, and barnyard millets, our mylk doesn't curdle, and it has one of the most neutral tastes a plant-based mylk can have. That's why it's perfect for a piping hot cup of chai, hot chocolate, or any other drink.
The most important difference between masala chai and chai are the spices. They both contain roughly the same base ingredients: hot milk and black tea. Masala chai takes it up one more notch with cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, and so on.
Black tea, the base of masala chai, contains powerful health benefits. It's rich in antioxidants that can be good for your heart and gut health. It can also lower "bad" LDL cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels.
Vegan masala chai is even healthier because it's lactose-free and cholesterol-free!
So share this easy recipe with a chai lover who has been trying to go dairy-free.
2 tsp tea powder / 4 tsp tea leaves
Masala or Spices; we like to use 1 cardamom pod, 1 clove, 1/2 in cinnamon stick and 1/4 in ginger
2 tbsp ground jaggery, sugar, or sweetener of your choice
1 pack / 200ml One Good mylk
1 cup / 250 ml water
If you have the time & patience we recommend crushing the spices first.
Add water to a sauce pan and add the spices & sweetener. Adjust the amount of sweetener to your taste.
Let it simmer for 1-3 minutes depending on how strong you like your tea.
Pour in One Good mylk to the saucepan and let it simmer on low heat for a minute. This works best if your mylk is at room-temperature.
Pour into your favourite mug through a strainer and enjoy!
